The course will be taught using a combination of lectures, tutorials, readings, revision sessions and computer based assignments. Dates of tutorials and revision sessions will be announced via Moodle

Important Note for International Students: For international students in New Zealand under student visas, regular attendance is part of your visa obligation and is checked as a requirement on the University under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, to which the University is a signatory. Students who successfully complete the paper should be able to:

  • Design conventional and advanced potable water treatment unit processes including chemical handling and storage, physical/chemical treatment, filtration and disinfection
    Linked to the following assessments:
  • Design conventional and advanced domestic and industrial wastewater treatment unit processes including physical/chemical treatment, sedimentation, conventional and advanced nutrient removal biological treatment and tertiary polishing
    Linked to the following assessments:
  • Use steady state and dynamic modelling methods for process design including simulation of plant performance under dry weather/storm flow conditions
    Linked to the following assessments:
  • Design and simulate the performance of integrated treatment plants combining primary, secondary and tertiary unit processes.
